Post Am See Traunkirchen
TRAUNKIRCHEN, AUSTRIA
Located on the shores of Lake Traunsee in idyllic Traunkirchen, this 4-star superior hotel welcomes its guests amidst lakes, mountains and historic streets. The hotel combines timeless elegance and modern design with exceptional cuisine and bar culture, as well as the tranquility and nature of the Salzkammergut region in Upper Austria. Its unique location allows guests to experience the region first-hand and offers numerous opportunities for activities.

The hotel's 700-year history dates to 1327, when Benedictine nuns laid the foundation stone for a guesthouse that later developed into an important post station in the Salzkammergut. Since 1950, the Post am See Traunkirchen has been owned by the Gröller family and is now run by the third generation.

Culinary delights range from regionally rooted tavern cuisine in the Wirtshaus Poststube 1327 to the Belétage restaurant with its food sharing concept and contemporary bar, to the Bootshaus restaurant in the nearby sister hotel Das Traunsee – Das Hotel zum See, which has been awarded a Michelin star, a green star and four Gault & Millau toques. Gault & Millau ‘Chef of the Year 2023’ Lukas Nagl and the Gröller family shape the culinary direction of both establishments and are known far beyond the regional borders for their work.

A particular highlight is the rooftop BergSPA with its infinity pool, saunas, and spacious relaxation areas. High-quality natural materials and a minimalist yet warm design characterize the overall concept.

This unique combination of history, hospitality and contemporary luxury was recognised by Gault & Millau in 2026 with the ‘Hotel of the Year’ award.
